You can now register for the London TechAlliance IT Week events taking place on the week of April 23. That’s the tagline for a series of events taking place here in London on the week of April 23rd, hosted by TechAlliance. Preliminary details are now on the TechAlliance web site. There will be events of interest to businesses in the IT sector, any business using IT or the web (and what business doesn’t?), and those wondering what careers are available in IT.
As said by TechAlliance:
TechAlliance is proud to host âIT LIVES in Londonâ IT Week, the first and only week dedicated to the London IT (Information Technology) sector. Created to raise awareness of the world-class IT companies and resources that call London home, IT Week will be a community celebration of Londonâs IT sector and its contribution to our cityâs economy, well-being and quality of life.
I will be one of the presenters at a session called Web2.0 & Beyond: Social Media and Your Business, described as:
Blogito Ergo Sum, (I Blog therefore I am,) is the mantra of the modern internet user but what does it mean for a business? Featuring an expert panel, this session will discuss the internet and social media and the implications they have on businesses.
In the interests of full disclosure, I am on the Techalliance IT Advisory Council.

ITCanada.ca has an article about the gap between the number of new IT jobs, and the number of IT graduates. It refers to a study that shows the demand for IT grads is far bigger than the supply.
This is consistent with discussions that have taken place within the London tech and education community. Anecdotal evidence suggests there are good job opportunities for grads in certain IT fields.
Those now making decisions about their education who have an interest in IT should consider programs at institutions such as the University of Western Ontario, and Fanshawe College.
