When the copyright enforcer breaches

Tags: , , — David Canton @ 2:46 pm

Its amusing / ironic / puzzling whenever someone who aggressively tries to protects its own copyright, trade-marks, or other intellectual property finds itself on the opposite side.   In other words, they engage in the very behaviour that they find offensive in others.

The latest example is Vanoc (aka the Vancouver Olympics).  Seems that there are a couple of instances where Vanoc has been accused of trying to acquire rights from others that crossed the line.

See the details on Excess Copyright or Techdirt.

  2. Dear David:

I enjoyed your article about saving paper. You will be interested to know about a paper accounting appliance we are using in our corporation. Simply, the plug and play appliance populates printer and copier user ID’s from the network and provides the ability to meter and monitor print and copy jobs over the internet. This has been a great tool for IT and we now know where to allocate printers and we have eliminated extranious printing. We are saving about 15% since last August. We can also bill actual job centers and clients. Hope you find this interesting.

  3. Dear David,

I enjoyed your article since I am working on getting rid of waste at work. Paper is one of my top ones on my hit list. I would like to bring this website to your attention: http://assets.panda.org/downloads/final_paper_saving_tips.pdf
It has researched the subject of how to eliminate waste paper very well. The PDF will only print double sided with two pages on each side to show how serious they are. Please have a look at it. I think you will find it very enlightening.
